An Active Methodological Proposal Exploring Image Formation in a Pinhole Camera and the Use of Technology

The present research involves the application of an active methodological proposal to contribute to the teaching of Physics, using digital technologies in the classroom context. The theoretical framework for learning was Vygotsky's Historical-Cultural Theory. The main objective was to propose an educational product, a methodological proposal, to contribute to the teaching and learning process of Geometric Optics concepts with the Pinhole Camera, using the Station Rotation model and digital technologies. The study was conducted with a group of 1st-year students of the New High School, in the Formative Itinerary of Technologies, Services, and Sustainability (TSS), at a State School located in the municipality of Conde, in the State of Paraíba. The adopted methodology was hybrid teaching, focusing on youth protagonism, in the Station Rotation model, encompassing five stages: Diagnostic Evaluation; Station Rotation Learning; Systematization of Physical Concepts and Discussions, and Application of Concepts. The data collection instruments were questionnaires for the Diagnostic Evaluation and Application of Concepts, as well as worksheets for reading and interpreting the text on the Origin of Photography and solving problem situations. The didactic and technological resources included low-cost materials for making the Pinhole Camera, videos, cell phones, notebooks, and the GeoGebra software application. Based on the collected data, we found that the proposed active methodology of Station Rotation contributed to student protagonism in knowledge construction and personalized teaching. The interactions among the group participants, mediated by language, provided text reading and interpretation, reflections, discussions, technology use, collaboration, cooperation, learning styles, skill development, autonomy, and responsibility, which were fundamental for the students' learning in an active, dynamic, and motivating way. We also noticed, consistent with the analysis of the results from the Diagnostic Evaluation, the Stations, the Systematization of Content, and the Application of Concepts, that a significant number of students achieved significant learning through their participation throughout the educational product's application process. The work as a whole demonstrated the importance of seeking innovative teaching strategies and methodologies, considering the current context of young people.
