Does the New Always Come? Meanings of the Future and Disputes over High School Reform in Post-2016 Brazil
High School; Reform; Disputes; Political Discourse Theory
This work presents a research project that seeks to understand how meanings of education for youth in Brazil are constructed within the public debate on the New High School Reform (Novo Ensino Médio). Based on the understanding that public discourse on youth education influences the direction of educational policies aimed at young people, the research proposes to navigate digital networks as key arenas in which this debate is mediated. The analysis is grounded in the Political Discourse Theory of Laclau and Mouffe (2015).
