SUMMARY:

The present Master's research, entitled "Education Outside the Box: A look a t the perceptions of children in the context of the covid-19 pandemic," is inserted in line 3 of research - Policies, Programs and Management of Educational and Cultural Processes. (PPGECI), has as its general objective to analyze the conceptions of children, inserted in the school context, who are attending Group 5 of Early Childhood Education about covid-19. To reach the general objective, the following specific objectives were defined: a) Characterize the school where the research is carried out; b) Identify the perceptions of Group 5 students about remote teaching during the isolation period of covid-19; c) Verify the families' perceptions regarding the children's participation and learning during the remote classes. The methodology adopted is qualitative, and as an instrument of data collection the semiAstructured interview and the surprise box technique and the Google forms online questionnaire were used. The research subjects are students in group 5 of Early Childhood Education in a public school. The theoretical approach had as main references authors who discuss childhood in a contextualized way in its different dimensions, among which we highlight: FREIRE (1983, 1987), ARIÉS (1960, 1981), KRAMER(1999, 2002), OLIVEIRA (2010), BARBOSA( 2006), QUORTRUP (2010), CRAIDY( 2001), GADOTTI (2016), DOURADO(2007), ABRAMOWICZ (2010), SARMENTO E TOMÁS(2020), among others. As results we can point out the experiences, barriers and dissatisfactions in the engagement of online teaching learning in the pandemic context with social isolation.
