SUMMARY:

This study seeks to investigate the impact of the subject Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations (ERER) on the professional performance of teachers who graduated from the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). To this end, it aims to understand how these teachers have approached African, Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture in their pedagogical practices, analyzing whether and how such practices dialogue with the knowledge and experiences acquired in the ERER subject taken during their initial training. Based on Countercolonial Theory, the research will adopt a qualitative approach and will use biography and ethnography as complementary methodologies. Through participant observation, it will be possible to immerse oneself in the school context in a more holistic way, with the purpose of understanding how the ethnic-racial theme has been worked on, identifying potentialities and limitations for the implementation of ERER, especially in the context of Physical Education. Based on its reflections and developments, the study will contribute to the deepening of issues that are still little explored in the field of Physical Education, as well as to the expansion of debates on ethnic-racial relations and the implementation of Laws 10.639/03 and 11.645/08 in schools and universities. The relevance of the research lies in the urgency of counter-colonizing the pedagogical practices of Physical Education in schools to break with the hygienist legacy that marks its origin and open new paths to overcome the paradigm of coloniality and build a more just, plural, diverse and equitable society.
