SUMMARY:

In mid-2015, there was an outbreak that led the Ministry of Health to declare a national state of emergency due to the outbreak throughout Brazil. Pernambuco was the first state to record the birth of children with microcephaly, in addition to becoming the state with the highest incidence in the country. The new congenital disease, which originated from Zika infection during pregnancy, is now called Congenital Syndrome associated with Zika virus infection (SCZ), which is characterized by a set of congenital, structural and functional anomalies that affect the growth and development of embryos or fetuses exposed to the virus throughout pregnancy. SCZ presents a series of neurological alterations that can lead to developmental and learning impairment in different ways. Ten years after the start of the epidemic, it is necessary to discuss the school inclusion of these children. Therefore, the general objective of this research is to investigate how the process of educational inclusion and learning of students with SCZ occurred from early childhood education to elementary school 1 in the Municipal Network of Recife. Specifically, we sought to a) Identify whether inclusive pedagogical practices were carried out by teachers with students with SCZ; b) Understand the challenges and possibilities experienced by teachers and professionals who accompany children with SCZ in their daily school routine; c) Investigate the obstacles and/or advances reported by family members (mothers or guardians) of students with SCZ and by the management of Special Education of the Education Department of the Municipal Network of Recife; d) Analyze the advances in the learning of SCZ students. This study adopts a qualitative approach and is configured as exploratory research, using semi-structured online questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, (auto)biographical pedagogical letters and videography as data construction instruments. Data analysis will be performed through content analysis, narrative analysis and interactive videography. Expected results include the acquisition of foundations and information that will help foster and promote more welcoming and inclusive school environments and the organization and socialization of pedagogical practices that positively impact students, educators and school communities.
