SUMMARY:

Hip hop, which originated in the outskirts of the city, goes beyond artistic expression by fusing music, dance, fashion and graffiti. It benefits local youth, promoting awareness and cultural strengthening, and is a tool for empowerment and social inclusion in the outskirts of the city. In the context of Pernambuco, it connects young people to local culture, strengthening authentic unions. The hip hop movement, which emerged in the Bronx, expanded globally and has influenced the Pernambuco scene since the 1980s. The research focuses on the "Jornada de MCs" in Pernambuco, analyzing its origin, development and impact. Objectives include analyzing the formation of the battle, collaboration between the Metropolitan Hip Hop Association and "Jornada de MCs", the structure of the event and its impact on self-esteem and social integration.
