MACIEL, Fabíola Cavalcanti. Atypical maternity hospitals in an ableist society: Challenges for inclusion from the perspective of mothers of children and adolescents with disabilities in rural Pernambuco. 2024. Dissertation-Postgraduate Program in Education, Cultures and Identities - PPGECI. The research reflects on the phenomenon of helplessness and social lack of protection experienced by mothers of people with disabilities, called "atypical mothers". We direct the debate seeking a broader perception in relation to the challenges of inclusion, based on the perception and experiences of atypical mothers in caring for their children, people with disabilities or neurodivergent people, realizing the important role played by these women in making inclusion happen. In this field, although legal protections are recognized, it is essential to understand the active participation of atypical maternity hospitals in these processes, including inclusion. The research has been carried out from a qualitative perspective, through participant observation, since the author is part of this group and carries out militant and professional activity in this universe. Based on the objectives and proposal of the methodology with the Oral History (OH) method, aiming to understand the experiences of these mothers. The study is based on an intersectional perspective on atypical maternity hospitals, realizing that from the birth of this child, she loses her identity, being subjected to the solitary task of being a caregiver for her child, the front of this support in an integral way, without being properly perceived in the field of public policies
