In recent times, several cases of violence seem to have crossed into the school environment, causing concern in society as a whole (Charlot, 2002; Abramovay, 2006; Gonçalves, 2010). With the understanding that this phenomenon can have an impact on children's development, in this research we will try to assess whether and how the Giant Leap program can contribute to promoting the learning of socio-emotional skills and reducing possibly aggressive behavior in pre-school children in a school in the municipality of Recife. Based on the studies carried out by Correia and Marques-Pinto (2015) and interventions based on Socioemotional Learning (CASEL, 2017, 2021; Durlak et al., 2011), we found that there are skills that can contribute to the development of emotional, social and behavioral aspects from an early age. In this sense, using a qualitative-quantitative approach and instruments such as semi-structured interviews and the IDADI Inventory, we will investigate how the Giant Leap program can support children in promoting the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to understand and manage their own emotions.
