SUMMARY:

The purpose of this project is to analyze the possibilities of using and elaborating sequential comic arts as constructors of black representation in the classroom based on workshops to be carried out with an 8th grade class of Elementary School II. To this end, we seek to understand the black representations that develop in the school environment, thus seeking to value, observe and produce materials that corroborate these representations through the reality of the educational space. We take into account the Eurocentric character inherent to formal educational processes; which has repercussions on the negative feeling experienced by many black students of not feeling positively represented at school, nor in teaching materials, experiencing their identity, cultural and social characteristics in a traumatic way, considered deviant from hegemonic Eurocentric standards, as well as the students non-blacks without understanding and perpetuating racist practices, both inside and outside the school. In this sense, we rely on theoretical and artistic references that will help us to understand the broad concept of Afrocentricity, seeking to weave considerations around the Brazilian context, also aiming at the transforming power of Afrocentric perspectives as coping strategies and ancestral, historical and collective resistance of the black people in Brazil and in the world,. We follow this discussion in defense of the pedagogical use of Sequential Comics Arts in education and their competencies in the face of Afrocentric concepts. Often, the project seeks to follow the epistemic precepts of action-research, which has been developed with an 8th grade class of Elementary School II of a State School located in the city of Igarassu (PE), where it is intended to follow investigation steps that take into account the reality of this school ambience, seeking to identify the spaces and times conducive to strategies of appreciation, reflection and action around facing oppression based on the pedagogical aid of Comics in line with the teaching of Afro history and culture -Brazilian, as required by Law No. 10,639/03.
