SUMMARY:

The research in question is inscribed in the field of identity, racism and religion studies based on the decolonial perspective. The general objective of the research is to understand the relationship between the life trajectories and formations of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and the Youth Pastoral of the Middle Class in the construction of the racial identities of its participants. The following authors were used to build the theoretical framework: Hall (2000), Woodward (2000), Quijano (2009), Almeida (2018), Azzi (2005), Brandão (1981), Gohn (2006), Gomes (2005), Sofiati (2009), Freire (1993), among others. Under the authors' light we will approach themes such as identity, racism, life trajectories and religious formation. The research design is inserted in the qualitative approach, having as reference Minayo (1994) and Bryman (2004). A comparative research will be carried out through two case studies in order to verify how the theological perspectives of each movement and the life trajectories influence the construction of the racial identities of the research participants. As field of research the groups of CCR and MPJM in the North Zone of Recife were chosen. As participants of the research, there will be members of the CCR and the MP MPJ who declare themselves as black men and women, with more than two years integrating both movements. The instruments of data collection will be a closed questionnaire, non-participant observation and a narrative interview. The treatment of the data collected will be based on discourse analysis.
