SUMMARY:

The research described by this project aims to reflect on the construction of teaching subjectivity in the New Public Management scenario, based on issues such as the new professionalism and performativity. Thus, it questions the influences of the discourses of quality education and focused on results management in the exercise of teaching work and in the professional being and doing of these teachers. In this sense, it is guided by four main axes that think, respectively, policies as discourse; global and local guidelines for “quality” education; The unfolding of the New Public Management (NGP) in the teaching work and in the construction of its subjectivities; and, more specifically, the influences of NGP discourses on teaching work in Pernambuco. Thus, it seeks to approach these objectives based on theoretical and empirical work, with a snowball sample that aims to build a database from depth narrative interviews. The research subjects will be Portuguese and Mathematics teachers from public reference schools in the state of Pernambuco. The data will be analyzed from the Foucauldian discourse analysis. Finally, it is worth emphasizing the scientific relevance contained in this research proposal, since this is a topic that has been gaining ground in education discussions in recent years, both in a macro-social analysis of a global dimension, and in research of specific locations, then the work emerges with a post-structuralist proposal that tries to break with the theoretical limitations of macro-micro to think about global education guidelines and their transnational influences and interferences, as a path to a specific situation translated into empirical work.
