SUMMARY:

This dissertation research focuses on accessibility in the production and teaching content for ; Distance Learning (DL, focusing on the inclusion of students with disabilities and neuroatypical students in higher education. We understand accessibility as a right established primarily under the Brazilian Inclusion Law (LBI) – Law nº. 13,146/2015. The research is based on the need for educational accessibility as a right and the need for research and materials emphasizing content accessibility for the inclusion of students with disabilities in distance education. Based on a mapping of the EduCAPES digital repository, an online portal maintained by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), which provides educational resources for the Open University of Brazil (UAB) program, we conducted exploratory research on the topic for analysis. As for the research foundation, we discuss regulations and theoretical approaches that address accessibility, adaptation of teaching materials, inclusion, types of disabilities, and disorders, considering acquired rights and those established by law. We also emphasize the importance of ongoing teacher training to improve inclusive teaching practices in the classroom, such as the crucial role of Accessibility Centers in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The methodological design of this research is qualitative, bibliographical, and documentary, structured into theoretical paths that address accessibility, instructional design, and the production of accessible materials and content. We will present analyses of two teaching materials with an emphasis on accessibility: one a video with audio description and the other a teaching guide. The final product of this research is a teaching guide with didactic and pedagogical strategies for the production and adaptation of accessible content in the context of distance learning. The contributions of this research provide support for the promotion of equitable pedagogical practices through the use of assistive technologies and adapted pedagogical methodologies, contributing to the development and learning of students with disabilities and neurodivergent students and strengthening inclusive teaching practices, ensuring the effectiveness of national public policies and legislation.
