São José Neighborhood; Heritage; Identities; Memory
The research project entitled: The (Re)significations of Memory and History in the neighborhood of São José-Recife/PE from the (Re)production of urban spaces, proposes to carry out an analysis and historical understanding of the (re)significations of memories of the subjects that make up the sociocultural life of the São José neighborhood, that is, residents, traders and passersby in the face of the interventions that transformed the dynamics of the neighborhood. Thus, the relevance of our research is to identify the memories of local historical subjects and contribute to discussions about heritage in the broadest sense, in its subjective character. From the perspective of cultural history, we analyzed, from iconographic sources, semi-structured interviews, participant observation and oral history, the categories of heritage, urbanities, identities and memory that constitute the objective of this research.
