SUMMARY:

The aim of this research project is to analyze the conceptions of teachers and producers of biology and natural sciences textbooks about the image of people with disabilities and their contributions to the socio-educational context of these teaching manuals. The image of people with disabilities (Pcd) is very scarce in biology and natural sciences textbooks, and when they are represented in photographs, it is only in relation to their disability, establishing a disability bias. The research is based on the contributions of Vygotsky and Peirce on language and imagery, on the relationships between image, cognition and learning by Mayer and Barthes, on the perception of people and social vulnerability by Chatman and the Brazilian Inclusion Law, which converge to enhance the discussions to be established in this study. Furthermore, it is important to understand the perceptions of those who idealize and reproduce the image, from the point of view of LD producers and teachers of Biology and Natural Sciences, seeking to understand the nuances involved in its preparation and dissemination in these teaching manuals. The study involves a qualitative-descriptive methodology, focusing on the dynamics of textbook production and the various meanings that permeate the field of inclusive education public policies, based on semi-structured interviews with a group of textbook producers and teachers who teach Pcd, collected from a group of teachers.
