SUMMARY:

Statistics is a field of mathematics that is present in several areas of knowledge and materializes in several applications in the daily life of contemporary society. The concepts and definitions in the teaching of statistics, in the classroom, have provided knowledge so that students can interpret and organize information, through data, to understand the reality that surrounds them and for conscious decision making. The teaching and learning of statistics concepts are related to official documents, such as the PCN - National Curricular Parameters of 1998 and the National Common Curricular Base (BNNC) (BRASIL, 2018), which recommends expanding the teaching of Statistics in Basic Education. The advancement of teaching statistics, linked to practical applications, corroborates statistical literacy, providing that, at the end of the teaching and learning process, students can have a meaningful learning experience and that enables them to develop data analysis methods that benefit understanding the information that surrounds them in their daily lives. However, it is seen in the literature that studies that seek to understand evaluative approaches that are different from traditional paradigms, such as tests, simulations and tests, are still incipient. It is necessary that the evaluation processes diagnose student learning in a playful way and allow the teacher to carry out a procedural evaluation, to understand the difficulties encountered by students in solving problems, as well as their ability to use concepts in contexts that are close to of your everyday reality. The main difficulties regarding the teaching and learning of Statistics, in terms of contents, are frequently found in academic research and in the literature, so that the evaluation processes show the challenges and possibilities for teaching and learning the contents of Measurements of Central Trends - MTC (Mode, Mean and Median) and dispersion, in the school environment, as well as in Basic Education mathematics classrooms. These difficulties related to the evaluative approaches and the mentioned contents, arouse the interest of this thesis proposal for investigation on the evaluation process. We believe, based on the evidence found so far, that the combination of teaching statistics with the use of Serious Games, in the context of the mathematics classroom, can be favorable to an evaluation that deviates from the traditional model and that allows the student to build concepts and definitions in the process of critical reflection. Based on this statement, we have the following research question: how the combination of Game Learning Analytics (GLA) and Educational Data Mining (MDE) techniques can help to identify evaluative knowledge related to the teaching of measures of central tendency and dispersion from of serious games (SGs)? In order to validate the proposal, a quantitative and qualitative approach will be used in this research, with the assumption of the Design Science Research methodology - DSR, composed of 15 guidelines, according to Dresch, Lacerda and Antunes Júnior (2015), which points out the path research needs to develop to achieve the proposed objectives. The initial results provide indications that this research question can be answered. The first results, used to delimit the research problem, were collected through an Integrative Literature Review - RIL, of works published in the period from 2017 to 2021. From the results obtained from this thesis research, it is expected to build a game to be applied to evaluate the learning of statistics concepts, specifically those of MTC, which can be distributed free of charge and which can be used by municipal and student education departments in Brazilian states to collect information about the teaching and learning process of students.
