SUMMARY:

The present research has the general objective to understand how Science teachers from the Final Years of Elementary School, who work in schools close to the mangrove, conceive this ecosystem and approach it in the classroom. The research subjects will be the Science teachers of the seventh year of Elementary School, because, in this year, ecosystems are addressed. At first, a documental analysis of the School's Political Pedagogical Project (PPP) will be necessary, to verify if and in what way it understands the mangrove ecosystem. In addition, we will analyze the teaching plan of the Science curriculum component of the seventh grade teachers, as well as their lesson plans on the mangrove. Interviews with professors and observations of classes on mangroves complete the data collection instruments so that we can account for the object of study. The analysis will be done in the light of content analysis. This work can serve as a basis for reflection on the need to implement the theme in the continuing education of teachers, in addition to providing visibility for successful practices, which can and should serve as a model and inspiration in the initial training courses of science teachers, aiming at the improvement and/or potentialization of this formative stage.
