PREOTEOMIC ANALYSIS IN BITCHES WITH MAMMARY NEOPLASMS - LITERATURE REVIEW
cancer, biomarkers, mass spectrometry, mastectomy, proteome.
The prevalence of mammary tumors in dogs has increased in recent decades, making it one of the main diseases that lead to death in companion animals. Canine mammary tumors present histopathological characteristics, biological behavior and metastatic pattern similar to those observed in humans. Aiming at a study model in search of an early diagnosis and achieving successful treatment, the study of biomarkers linked to proteomic technologies, which help in the monitoring, diagnosis and prognosis of the disease, has intensified. These, in turn, have already been introduced more than a decade ago in the study of human cancer, and with the development of new improvement techniques, they have great potential in veterinary medicine. The present study explains the most promising proteomic techniques in veterinary medicine, applicability to mammary neoplasms in dogs, the development of functional biomarkers and future challenges for new research.
