Identification of brazilian veterinary anesthesiologist’s profile - literature review
Questionnaire, anesthetic management, small animal, Brazil
Abstract:
Anesthesiology and Veterinary Anesthesiology evolution has been evident over
the last hundred years: currently, highly complex procedures are performed with an advanced
degree of pre, trans and post-anesthetic monitoring, with a view to safety, well-being and to
the patient's quality of life. Evidence-based medicine was placed at the center of the
discussion The identification of the possible gap between the recommended and the verified
conduct can provide answers regarding factors that can lead to complications and death of
patients. Several surveys were carried out through questionnaires on the morbidity and
mortality of anesthetic procedures, however specifically in Brazil there are no records of
studies that indicate the conduct of the Brazilian veterinarian who performs anesthesia, in
different species, regarding the choice of drugs, forms of both monitoring in the
perianesthetic period and assessment of postoperative pain and choice of analgesics.
