SUMMARY:

This thesis project aims to generally investigate the reading and academic writing conditions of students in the Academic Doctorate Course of the Northeast Teaching Network Graduate Program (RENOEN) and their implications for training and scientific production. It starts from the recognition that academic writing, fundamental for researchers' educational trajectory, is a complex process that involves social, discursive, and subjective practices, and is not an innate or spontaneous skill. In this sense, it seeks to understand why graduate students often encounter blocks and difficulties in producing their theses, questioning whether these limitations are related to the reading practices developed throughout their schooling and training. Based on this problem, the following specific objectives are established: to understand how the writing process occurs in the strict sense postgraduate education in the area of Teaching, from the perspective of RENOEN; to identify how the reading process occurs in graduate studies and how it relates to academic writing; and to analyze the perceptions of graduate students regarding the relationship between reading and writing and their implications for research in the area of Teaching. Based on the concepts of literacy as a social practice (Street, 1984; Lea; Street, 1998) and the discussions on academic training and scientific production (Bianchetti; Machado, 2009), the study analyzes the difficulties faced by students, the limitations in the development of reading and writing practices, and their impacts on the production of scientific knowledge. The research aims to contribute to critical reflection on the challenges of training researchers and to propose pedagogical actions that favor the strengthening of academic literacy and the democratization of scientific knowledge.
