Peasant feminism; wind energy; female empowerment.
The current scenario of environmental degradation requires, in civil society, the State and various institutions, a commitment to an urgent change of attitude in concerning the ways in which human beings relate to nature. Conventional energy production – using mineral coal and oil – contributes to the emission of harmful waste to the ozone layer and, consequently, to the quality of life on the planet. In this context, energy production is sought through renewable sources considered clean, with low environmental impact and profitable, such as that produced by wind: wind energy. On the one hand, it is noted the interest of the financial sector, which aims to generate significant dividends with this energy source; on the other hand, environmentalists, movements and social organizations warn about the socio-environmental impacts caused by the implementation of wind farms in certain territories, such as in rural areas, these impacts range from compromising the productive potential of these damaged spaces to the physical and mental health of those who operates in the area where these projects are located. Given this, the action of peasant women in the defense of their territories stands out, driven by peasant feminism, knowledge and appreciation of agroecological practices, often facilitated by interventions by movements and social organizations which contribute to the protagonism of these women in combating the damage caused by wind farms. In this sense, the man objective of this research project is to understand the process of establishing the role of peasant women in facing the negative impacts of the implementation of wind farms in their territories. As a methodological approach, we chose a bibliographical research. As for the collection instrument, interviews will be carried out with peasant women from the Lamarão and Quixaba sites (Picuí/PB). Regarding the collection instrument, interviews will be carried out with peasant women from the Lamarão and Quixaba sites. We consulted authors such as Raffestin (1993), Sabourin (2009), Siliprandi (2011), Wanderley (2015), Teles (2017), Tiburi (2018), Gorayeb e Brannstrom (2019), Seibert (2029), Lerner (2019, 2022), Calaça (2021), Silva (2021, 2023a, 2023b), Traldi (2022), Hooks (2022), Bourdieu (2023), with the aim of seeking, in knowledge already developed, to understand the phenomenon studied.
