MEDICINAL ROOTS: health care, gift and reciprocity based on herbal know-how at the Muribeca Alternative Health Center (CESAM)
Phytotherapy, Solidarity Economy, Community Health.
The present research project aims to describe and interpret the potential of medicinal plants and traditional knowledge surrounding health care practices inherent in the phytotherapeutic practices of the Muribeca Alternative Health Center (CESAM). In this regard, from a qualitative epistemological perspective, of an ethnographic and interactional nature, we aim to understand the social phenomena related to health care through phytotherapy in dialogue with Agroecology, considering solidarity enterprises and how women from CESAM organize themselves based on the concepts of gift and reciprocity. Following these steps, we aim to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the nurtured relationships between CESAM and the local community, highlighting the role of knowledge and social interactions of these women in maintaining the health and well-being of the peripheral population.
