Survey of medicinal plants used in the region of Tianguá-Ceará, Northeast Brazil

Ethnobotany studies the relationship between man and plants, especially those used for medicinal purposes, with the aim of rescuing biodiversity and popular knowledge. The objective of this study will be to carry out an ethnobotanical survey of medicinal plants and their uses in the municipality of Tianguá-Ce and the construction of a medicinal garden. The interviewees will be identified through a conversation with the Secretariats of Agriculture and Environment, Union of Rural Workers, NGOs, Secretariat of Health and Diocesan Caritas using the “snowball” methodology. The study will be carried out through visits to the residents' homes, where the free and informed consent form will be exposed. After signing the term, the questionnaire will be applied with objective and descriptive questions related to the species of medicinal plants that are cultivated, respective parts used, as well as the forms of preparation and which diseases are treated with the plants. Bibliographic research will also be done through books and scientific articles. Specimens will be collected and later identified in the Herbarium of the Federal University of Ceará and the propagation material will be planted in the elderly's house for the construction of a vegetable garden medicinal. It is expected that at the end of the project we will be able to know the main medicinal plants and their uses, thus fostering popular knowledge.
