ABSTRACT
This dissertation focuses on the construction of the female character in the book Muito Além do
Corpo, by Pernambuco writer Luzilá Gonçalves Ferreira. To carry out this investigation, we
sought, first, to trace the path of construction character's identity, which based on their own
reflections and understandingof the world, defines what is favorable or not for your well-being
and freedom. This work aims to analyze the corporeality of the character, bringing him closer to
the idea ofa liberated body. For this we will use as the main theoretical basis What Body is this?
The body in the feminine imagination (2021), by Elódia Xavier. In addition to focusing on
Michael Foucault (1987), Simone de Beavouir (1967), Bourdieu (2002); making a historical and
social survey of the body issue in society and how the mind/body dichotomy contributed to the
separation of man/woman in a negative way. To deal with feminism in Brazil, we used The
History of Feminism in Brazil (1999), Constância Duarte (2009),Chimamanda Adchie (2014),
Woolf (2014) amongother no less important names. From these and other theoretical bases, we
will seek to present the historical and social construction of the female body in society and how
the character's body in the aforementioned workis endowed with a liberated body.Observing also
how their identity construction turns in the opposite direction of what is expected by the social
scope by the social scope immersed in masculinist ideas
