A study on the narrative focus in João Miguel, by Rachel de Queiroz.
Rachel de Queiroz; João Miguel; Narrative focus.
The appreciation of Rachel de Queiroz's novel production highlights the importance of her work in national literature. However, the limited visibility given to the artist and her productions in the present does not align with this recognition. Considering the diversity of texts produced by the author, we conclude that there is still much to be revisited in the fictional universe she created. While an examination of the author's entire body of work is fruitful for literary studies, we will establish the novel "João Miguel" (1932) as the focus of this dissertation in order to highlight, in dialogue with theoretical and critical studies, the relevance of the narrative perspective in the construction of fictional worlds; identify how the articulation between the constituent components of the novel is established; and contribute to the dissemination and visibility of Rachel de Queiroz's literary production. With the execution of this research, the aim is to raise discussions that enrich academic studies through the exploration of works and aspects that, although of extreme importance for a better understanding and appreciation of literary art, are still underexplored today. The critical analysis of a novel that is constructed using various narrative resources and techniques, as is the case with "João Miguel," will facilitate the development of relevant and necessary reflections on fictional narrative.
