“O SUMIÇO DA SANTA”, BY JORGE AMADO: INTERFACES BETWEEN FEMALE VOICES AND CULTURAL PROCESSES RELATED TO SEXUALITY AND RELIGIOSITY
Jorge Amado´s Novel. Cultural Studies. Black woman. Sexuality. Religiosity
In literature, it has always represented leadership and man, a position of superiority, this is reflected in the way women were reflected in the literary field. Despite the invisibility of the female and female voice being presented in the literary field, generally, in a sexualized way and in the obligation of submission to the Christian religion, some authors promote a rupture of this canonical system, and brought hours of female characters who were “senses of their religions wills”, suggesting a break in thinking that was based on the canon, thus promoting the neutralization of the order of masculine force, considered universal and legitimized through discourses. Jorge Amado, for example, was one of the authors of Brazilian Literature who broke with national borders and vast worldwide notoriety with his literary production and several novels that narrate stories permeated by historical, social and cultural issues of the country. In this sense, we seek to understand how the cultural processes related to sexuality and religiosity of the characters Adalgisa and Manola take place, and the female representation in the field of literary studies. For this, the research will be guided from the Cultural Studies of Post-Modernity, with emphasis on issues related to identity, social representations and female sexuality. We will seek to analyze the literary corpus based on specific objectives and highlight the connections between cultural processes in Amado's work, as well as the way in which power relations influence social relations and how sexual oppression acts as a regulatory factor of female behavior.
