Welcome to the Fishing Engineering Course at the Academic Unit of Serra Talhada (UAST)

Fishing Engineering is a fundamental field dedicated to the sustainable use of aquatic natural resources, including aquaculture, fishing, fish processing, and conservation of fish stocks. Based on knowledge from biology and exact sciences, it develops techniques to improve fishing activities and promote environmental management.

The Fishing Engineering Course at UAST started in 2006 with the aim of training professionals capable of working both in the Northeast Region and throughout the country, in response to the growing demand for development in the fishing sector. With a team of qualified professors and an updated curriculum, the course provides students with practical experiences, internships, technical visits, and participation in scientific events, preparing them for the challenges of the job market.

Recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and an update of the educational project in 2017, the course achieved the maximum score in MEC's evaluation. In addition, adapting to the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the implementation of online teaching, demonstrates the institution's commitment to ensuring continuity and quality of education.

The Fishing Engineering Course at UAST is strategically located in Pernambuco, a state with great biological diversity and relevance in artisanal and industrial fishing. With a growing market and demand for qualified professionals, the course aims to train engineers capable of working in different areas, such as planning, aquaculture, research, environmental management, and entrepreneurship.

Over the years, our graduates have excelled in various professional fields, demonstrating the versatility and quality of the education offered.
